Winter Programs Special Olympics Team Powderhorn Volunteers
I am the mother of alpine skiing athlete Wendy Newsom and have been involved with Special Olympics since 1985. When we moved from Boise, Idaho to Grand Junction in the summer of 2004, I was very excited to hear about CDA and to become involved in the winter ski program.
I enjoy skiing and helping train these special athletes. I have been a coach for the past two seasons and love my Saturdays at Powderhorn skiing with the team in preparation for the Special Olympics. There is no greater joy than seeing their excitement and receiving the big hugs from these special athletes each week; especially on race day.
